ENCORE TRANSITIONS: AARP Crash Course in Finding the Work You Love
If you’re ready for an encore career, but still afraid of careening out of control, check out two-time career shifter Samuel Greengard’s new book, AARP Crash Course in Finding the Work You Love.
“Midlife recareering is a growing trend and it’s something on the minds of boomers and older workers,” wrote Greengard in an email. “Finding meaning in one’s life is crucial and work is often at the center of this equation.”
While Greengard’s advice to “embrace your dreams and explore your fantasies” may initially seem simplistic, he follows it up with practical tips on how to move from career fantasies to fantasy careers — including test driving your new job through an organization like VocationVacations.
In conjunction with the book’s release, AARP has posted a series of one-minute online “recareering” workshops with the author. Topics include “How to Connect to Your Calling,” “Challenges for Older Career Changers” and “Recareering During Tough Economic Times.”
AARP Crash Course in Finding the Work You Love is available online for $14.95 at www.aarpmagazine.org/books.
